Local funders
LOCAL FUNDING OPENING SOON: Animate: Explore
Funding amount and term: up to £1,000.
Funding for: projects/events happening in Gloucester between 1 August 2025 and 31 March 2026.
Who can apply: community organisations.
Funding priorities: projects with a strong connection to Gloucester and that take place in Gloucester and benefit residents through cultural activity or development that addresses an identified gap in current provision.
Any other information: applications open 31 March 2025.
Deadline: 23 May 2025.
Barnwood Trust Small Grants Funding
Funding amount and term: up to £10,000 for time-limited work.
Funding for: disabled people and people with mental health in Gloucestershire.
Who can apply: charities, educational establishments or groups. If your organisation has been constituted for less than two years, or if your organisation or group is not formally constituted, this is the funding programme for you.
Funding priorities: projects must support Barnwood Trust’s vision.
Any other information: apply for support by completing an Expression of Interest via the Gloucestershire Funders site here.

OPENING SOON: Cheltenham Borough Council’s Community-Building Grants
Funding amount and term: up to £300.
Funding for: events and activities that support neighbourhood wellbeing and improve the biodiversity of Cheltenham’s green spaces.
Who can apply: community and voluntary sector groups.
Funding priorities: small-scale projects.
Any other information: the next round of grants will open in April 2025.
Deadline: to be confirmed.
Chipping Campden Community Trust
Funding amount and term: unclear.
Funding for: community projects that enhance the quality of life of the residents of Chipping Campden and the defined area.
Who can apply: grants for residents, voluntary groups, charities and schools residing in the villages (a list is on their website) that benefit the local community.
Funding priorities: as above.
Any other information: applications will be considered where statutory government funding is not available and/or where other community funding has been applied for if available. Applicants must reside in Mickleton, Chipping Campden, Broad Campden, Weston-Sub-Edge, Willersey, Ebrington, Saintbury, Charingworth, Aston-Sub-Edge or The Hidcotes.

Cotswold Community Network
Funding amount and term: create your project on Spacehive, pitch to this fund and you could get a pledge of up to £10,000 (max 40% of target) towards your crowdfunding campaign.
Funding for: projects promoting the mental and physical health and wellbeing of your local community, climate change, a fair food system and a wide range of community projects.
Who can apply: public bodies, social enterprises, registered charities, Charitable Incorporated Organisations, Community Interest Companies, privately held companies. See the web link above for the full list.
Funding priorities: locally led ideas that enhance the community and its citizens.
Any other information: this fund is open twice a year for spring and autumn funding rounds - see the About page for more information on the next deadline.

Cotswold Primrose Charitable Trust
Funding amount and term: unclear.
Funding for: supporting individuals to access education, training, work and sports and physical activities.
Who can apply: registered charities, churches, parish councils, local authorities and CASC-registered sports clubs.
Funding priorities: as above.
Any other information: applications should be accompanied by the charity’s latest report and financial statements and should be addressed to: The Cotswold Primrose Charitable Trust, c/o New Quadrant Partners Ltd, 22 Chancery Lane, London, WC2A 1LS.

Enovert Community Trust
Funding amount and term: up to £50,000.
Funding for: community and environmental projects that enhance community sports and recreation facilities.
Who can apply: non-profit organisations, constituted organisations or groups within 10 miles of a landfill site operated by Enovert Management Limited or within 10 miles of a waste facility managed by the company. This includes Cheltenham (GL52 7RS), Cirencester (GL7 1YG), Gloucester (GL2 5FR) and Lydney (GL14 4EJ).
Funding priorities: it is important to demonstrate how your proposal will benefit your community.
Any other information: there are five key criteria for projects here.
Deadlines: 23 May 2025, 5 September 2025 and 5 December 2025.
Gloucestershire Disability Fund
Funding amount and term: up to £1,000 for individuals and £2,500 for organisations.
Funding for: people of any age with a special or exceptional need arising from having a disability to help them navigate life’s challenges.
Who can apply: charitable non-profit organisations or groups supporting people living with a physical, sensory or learning disability.
Funding priorities: as above.
Any other information: all applications for disability equipment must be supported by an assessment of need and suitability prepared by a qualified education, health or social care professional.

Gloucestershire Funders
Funding amount and term: it varies depending on the fund.
Funding for: support, services and projects to improve life for people across Gloucestershire.
Who can apply: Gloucestershire charities and groups.
Funding priorities: check the individual funds.
Any other information: Gloucestershire Funders are an informal group of funders committed to working together in a joined-up way to benefit Gloucestershire. They aim to provide one point of access to sources of financial support.
Deadline: ongoing.
Gloucestershire Community Foundation SWEF Awards Grants
Funding amount and term: up to £2,000.
Funding for: support with business start-up costs or an existing business.
Who can apply: young people aged 18 to 30 who live in Gloucestershire.
Funding priorities: as above.
Any other information: funds can be used for equipment, materials, stock or services you need to support your business.
Deadline: ongoing.
Gloucestershire Community Nurses Fund
Funding amount and term: unclear.
Funding for: financial support for people in need, including community nurses and retired nurses, plus assistance for community nursing provision.
Who can apply: referrals from health and social care professionals and private and voluntary agencies.
Funding priorities: as above.

NEW: Gold Cup 100 Community Fund
Funding amount and term: between £500 to £2,000.
Funding for: projects creating a positive impact on those that live and work in the vicinity of Cheltenham Racecourse.
Who can apply: community organisations and groups from the Cheltenham area including registered charities, schools and playgroups, plus sports, arts or music societies or groups promoting health and wellbeing.
Funding priorities: organisations working with young people and those based within 3 miles and 2 furlongs of Cheltenham Racecourse.

NEW: High Sheriff of Gloucestershire Grants Programme
Funding amount and term: up to £2,500.
Funding for: projects providing learning opportunities for young people to deter them from anti-social behaviour.
Who can apply: voluntary and community groups with charitable aims, registered charities or Community Interest Companies in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire.

Juliet’s Purse Homeless Relief Fund
Funding amount and term: up to £750.
Funding for: young people aged between 16 and 25 in Gloucestershire experiencing, and at risk of, homelessness to help them access accommodation or avoid eviction.
Who can apply: frontline workers can also apply for a grant on behalf of an eligible young person.
Funding priorities: as above.
Any other information: the young person must be actively engaged in work to sustain housing.

Let’s Be Clear Fund
Funding amount and term: not specified.
Funding for: clear face masks and more accessible communications to create the best possible environment for disabled people and people with mental health conditions in the county. Plus, craft packs and materials to create clear face masks.
Who can apply: charitable organisations and community groups in Gloucestershire.
Funding priorities: as above.
Any other information: The Let’s Be Clear Fund online application system is hosted by Barnwood Trust.
Deadline: ongoing.
Local Lotteries - for the benefit of local communities. Lotteries currently run in Cheltenham, Forest of Dean, Gloucester City and Stroud. Please click on the individual locations for more information and to sign up.
Mayfield Trust
Funding amount and term: unclear.
Funding for: individuals with learning disabilities, or families with a member who has learning disabilities, living in Gloucestershire so that they can purchase items which would improve their life.
Who can apply: as above.
Funding priorities: requests for items which would improve the life or the personal development of the beneficiary. Also, applications for items to develop the hobbies or interests of the beneficiary.

Stroud Funding – crowdfunding for the Stroud District
Funding amount and term: Stroud District Council (SDC) provides a portion of the funding – up to £10,000 - with the remaining amount raised through community pledges.
Funding for: community projects.
Who can apply: community groups within the Stroud district can apply to raise funds for local projects.
Funding priorities: projects that align with the council’s priorities of the environment and climate change or enhancing community resilience and wellbeing could receive up to £10,000 of SDC’s £100,000 fund, capped at 50% of the crowdfunding campaign target.
Any other information: applicants will need to set up a Crowdfunder page via Spacehive.
Deadline to submit projects and start crowdfunding: 7 May 2025.
Stroud Town Council funding – grants are available for a range of community projects in the Stroud District, including for the arts and the environment. For more information and a list of deadlines, please check the link above.
The Cotswold Heritage and Environment Fund
Funding amount and term: up to £2,000.
Funding for: local projects that focus on one or more of the following areas: heritage, environment, culture, access and social wellbeing.
Who can apply: charities, not-for-profit organisations and parish or town councils.
Funding priorities: as above.

The Prestbury United Charities - individuals, groups and societies can apply for support for those in need who live in the areas of Cheltenham with postcodes beginning GL50, GL51, GL52 and GL53. Applications can be made at any time.
Tewkesbury Borough Community Health & Wellbeing Grant
Funding amount and term: £1,000 grants available.
Funding for: projects to improve physical and mental wellbeing, that encourage healthy lifestyles, building strong communities for the future and contributing to long-term physical and mental wellbeing benefits.
Who can apply: not-for-profit organisations working with communities in Tewkesbury Borough, including registered charities, town/parish councils, CICs and social enterprises, plus constituted community groups.
Funding priorities: encouraging people to take part in community activities which improve mental and physical wellbeing; improving community spaces as well as creating outdoor community spaces.

The Free Hospital Trust Fund for Children
Funding amount and term: up to £3,500.
Funding for: the benefit of sick and suffering children who reside in Gloucestershire.
Who can apply: charities, schools and not-for-profit organisations. Any practitioner engaged in Social & Health and Education services working with children and young people can submit a claim form direct to the Gloucester Early Help and Targeted Support Team on behalf of a child, young person or their siblings.
Funding priorities: families where parents/children have significant health problems, who live in poor housing where domestic violence issues are present and/or where children have physical, emotional or social problems.

The Honourable Company of Gloucestershire
Funding amount and term: £100 to £1,000.
Funding for: to support business, sport, education and the arts and heritage in the county to encourage leadership and reward excellence.
Who can apply: applicants and beneficiaries should live in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire.
Funding priorities: the funder would like to help develop and improve community relations and social conditions, including the relief of poverty.

Your Gloucester Small Grants
Funding amount and term: £250 for individuals and up to £500 for a group. A total of £10,000 has been set aside by Gloucester City Council (GCC) to support residents not currently involved in local community activities.
Funding for: to develop local projects using the asset-based community development approach.
Who can apply: organisations or individuals with an idea that will kick-start or enhance community-based activities to the benefit of groups, young people or adults within the city of Gloucester.
Funding priorities: ideas must meet at least one of the GCC’s criteria on the application guidelines here.
