Moog Aircraft Control Components Ltd (Moog) hosted an Employee Volunteering ‘showcase’ event in partnership with Gloucestershire VCS Alliance at Moog’s new UK HQ in Tewkesbury on 30 July.
Ten organisations from VCSE groups & organisations in Tewkesbury were invited to attend a ‘breakfast’ event showcasing their work in the community, and the range of volunteering opportunities they have to offer.
During the event, Moog employees stepped away from their work to come and chat to staff and volunteers at each charity stall and many went away interested to sign up for a local cause.
As one of the largest businesses in Gloucestershire and a major employer in Tewkesbury, Moog is committed to supporting the local community. Moog launched its Paid Volunteer Time Off Policy in July and to support this initiative is working with Gloucestershire VCS Alliance to promote employee volunteering, team building and Trusteeship opportunities in Tewkesbury.
Nick Hall, General Manager, Tewkesbury Site, commenting on the range of charities attending said "It was fantastic to see the passion for each of your charities and the breadth and variety of causes available to our employees and what matters to them individually and collectively".
Joanna Scott, Gloucestershire VCS Alliance Business Connector, said "Partnerships between VCSE organisations and businesses can bring many benefits. With increasing demands on places and people to address social issues, there is greater need and recognition for charities and businesses to work together more and connect with their local communities".
