It's Gift Aid Awareness Day today and we're joining in this year's campaign to highlight some of the benefits for your group/organisation.
Our Business Support Lead, Karen, has put together a free 'top tips' sheet to get you started and you can download your copy below.
About Gift Aid
Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that lets charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs) claim an additional 25% on donations made by UK tax payers.
In practice, this means that if a UK tax payer donates £10 to your group/organisation, you could claim back an additional £2.50 on top of their intial donation, if they consent to you claiming Gift Aid.
There are no additional costs to the tax payer and therefore Gift Aid can be a really good way to boost the value of donations made to your group/organisation.
About Gift Aid Awareness Day
Gift Aid is worth around £1.6bn a year to UK charities and CASCs. Although, every year around £560m goes unclaimed.
Gift Aid Awareness Day is a national campaign that aims to raise awareness about Gift Aid and encourage donors to #TickTheBox.
The Charity Finance Group website has a range of social media assets that you can use to run a Gift Aid campaign. They're also encouraging groups & organisations to get involved in a range of ways, such as:
- Recognising your supporters/donors’ generosity
- Celebrating your impact
- Encouraging donors to make an impact and #TickTheBox
